Wednesday, October 25, 2006

hey guys... i got some bad news...

i was spray painted one of the chairs with a mask on it and when i came to take of the masking tape, one of the arms cracked... i glued it back on but the crack is quite obvious...

BUT

i have a solution =) its only on one side, so i'm guessing that chair side of the chair can be hidden behind one of the front roll cage bars...

there is a lesson to learn in this though...
be very careful when handling our model. especially the parts made out of particle board! it actualy split in a similar way to when we were nailing the blocks together for the motors...

ok time for you guys to kill me =(

Tuesday, October 24, 2006

hey mike thanks for posting the modelling pics. i remember you telling when you talked to simon, that on wednesday (tomorrow) we might be meeting up earlier as our big studio group earlier in the day. do you know if that is still happening??

if not i'll meet you in the labs @ 9:30

hey i got started on the painting its startings to look good. Tell me what you guys think of the red. (by the way i'll be buffing the paint after so it doesnt look as grainy)

Sunday, October 22, 2006

hey guys, tomorrow (monday) i'll be down in the modelling labs @ 9:30

i've got the guards done i think it looks fine, except i'm not sure about a few minor details + i also touched up the chairs a little bit.

anyone else is more than welcome to join me =)

Saturday, October 21, 2006

Hy can someone get started on some renderings of some explanatory diagrams for the presentation?? please =)

maybe some stuff about:
-how they sit. (inside and out)
-how they get in.

by the way has anyone assigned materials to the front drivers cabin for the renders in cad??

I know this is extremely late notice, but i saw this car on the road, so i did a bit of research into it.

This thing has a really cool canvas/plastic roof, and windows, so i thought that i'd share it with you all =)

Hey guys, for monday i've got a couple of requests to have some stuff done. you can do other stuff as well to add to your list if you want. =)

Mike: Upholster the seats

Tan: Get the Tico logo sorted

John: Can you get started on creating some of the posters for presentation

Me: i'll be working on getting the fenders and seats up to scratch on the model.

-we can all have a bit of fun and create some modified ticos as well =)

If you guys can have these things sorted for our next meeting and bring what you have done, it would be really good.

PROPS

Guys keep your eyes peeled at all times for items we can use for our Tico. As you all know we have had a bit of trouble finding the right accesories that we want to put in there so keep looking =)

Things we need to get at the moment:
-Rubber for the foot rest
-Cup Holders ( i havent been able to find that pipe i wanted to use)
-Mesh intake
-Upholster Seats
-Action Man Backpacks, Shovel etc
-Sandpaper for floor.

PAINTING

We also need to sort out colour schemes, i dont think you should start painting the model, but get them preped for painting. Once we have chosen the colours we want, we can do a quick photoshop to see what it will look like.

POSTERS
Do you think you guys could start working on some of your poster ideas to get an idea as to what it could potentailly look like as well.

LOGO
You guys can decide / discuss a logo tomorrow as well if you want. I like the frog the best at the moment =)

RENDERS
I dont have photoworks at home, but Tan has my HD so you guys can play around with them tomorrow and make a new one for photochopping if you want.

Hey guys heres some notes of stuff we talked about with simon in the modelling labs today.

Modified Tico's, a big range of them that we can all do.
Rainforest
Bullhorns
Animals
Golf Clubs
Surfers (stick a surn board leaning up against it, and a couple of top as well)
Scuba divers
Climbers
Hippies ( VW)

Enviroments:
Rainforest
Volcano
Beach
River
Plains/ Plato
Village (you can stick a monkey hanging of it, or a bull next to our tico)

we can also put stickers and decals on them as if its a fleet of viechles etc..

have fun doing them guys, but dont let them over run all of the other work we have to do. So maybe treat it as somthing to do when you want to have a little fun, and clear your head of other stuff thats giving you a headache.

these are all guide lines, so let your imagination take you where you want with theses!!

Tuesday, October 17, 2006

hey guys, lets get started on some colour schemes for our model.
our initial ideas were to follow the same colours as the standard tico (the green renders)

but we need a little bit more in terms of ideas for the rest of it etc..
so get cracking on your customized ticos and we'll discuss them after! btw good job mike =)

mike and i are meeting @ 9:30 in the modeling labs again. if anyone else wants to come and help us, please do! =)

i'll get the powerpoint stuff etc posted up here soon as well

Thursday, October 12, 2006

Hey Tan,do you mind making up some rough bags in rhino so we can throw them into the compartments for the renders to make them more realistic??

and this is just a note to my self to put in a spare wheel + jerry can ontop where the tarp is.

btw happy birthday mike =)

Wednesday, October 11, 2006

hey mike you have mail in your yahoo account. i sent the files to your email because the place seems to be down half the time now... tell me if you have any problems with the files

i didnt have a copy of the drivers seat or the bench seat, but i made up another drawing of the bench seat to scale with dimensions, i'll get around to the drivers when i have time.

i also tried to do the 8th scaling of dimensions but i couldnt find anything about scaling the dimensions

hey guys i'm uploading the drawing files to the 1asphost website now because they are pdf's and it doenst like me uploading them straight to blogger. so you guys can collect them from there. I'll try to put some links to the files so that its easier for you guys to get them

Next Meeting

Ok guys the next meeting is tomorrow (Monday) 9:30 level 7 computer labs.

Friday, October 06, 2006

hey guys, the updated files are up @ 1asphost.com
the server there is now being a little retarded in terms of uploading... so take your time =)

theres still a few things that need to be done for it, but i think tan and i are getting there =P

Wednesday, October 04, 2006

Hey guys as we discussed in class we have a few design changes, and little details to add.

These are the following:

Front + Rear Bumper details

Side guards + Intake + Indicators

Railings for the roof

Water tank for the top rear

Wheels need to look the part for a "standard package"

Seat Pattern, and make it more obvious the cushions

Seat Railing

Water bottle holder needs to look less flimsy

checkered plating ( can stand on, and look more ruggered)

Spanner symbol, and firstaid kit symbol need to be modified

Grooves in floor / gutterer along the side of seats for drainage

Create tarp, and some bags to be put into the space under chairs

besides that i think we are well on our way! good work so far guys!!

Tuesday, October 03, 2006

Hey guys i noticed that our interior didnt have a light for night time. what happens if they need to look at a map or somthing?? so i thought we could put a floresent tube underneath the solar pannel there that would turn on when the headlights are turned on or somthing..what do you guys think??

Sunday, October 01, 2006

guys i made an account at www.1asphost.com

username: EcoEV
and i'll email you all the password

Hey here are some updated versions, i put a piece of sheet metal underneath and ontop of the major structure, for aesthetics and it made it easier to mount all the parts. This can also act as parts of the floor.

by the way x marks the front.

i also rearranged some of the components to fit into the chasis between the motors. the highest point is the frame holding the motors, and the shocks which bolt into the frame which should be the part that tan is doing i think...
